Raising Your Vibration: A Grounded Approach Part 2: Six Everyday Ways to Raise Your Vibration

Action—Choose What Supports You: Simple practices using movement, nature, nourishment, breath, connection, and intentional living

Last week, I shared five practices that can help us shift our internal state when we're feeling low. Those practices focused largely on awareness: noticing what we're experiencing and consciously choosing how we want to support ourselves.

But we don't always have to think our way into feeling differently. Sometimes we can do something differently.

When I talk about raising your vibration, I mean shifting your energy, mood, or internal state toward greater balance, connection, peace, or joy. You may have experienced this yourself in a moment when love, excitement, gratitude, or joy created an almost physical sense of lightness.

So how can we invite more of those experiences into everyday life?

Here are six simple places to begin:

1)   Dance

It sounds simple, but it’s effective. Moving your body raises your vibrational energy. Dancing gets the blood pumping, boosts oxygen flow, and increases positive energy. Put on music you love and move. Notice how you feel before and after.

2)   Nature

Being in nature allows us to disconnect from our modern world and be more present. It can help us center ourselves and overcome our daily challenges with more grace and humility. Go to a park, the woods, or any outdoor place where you can connect with nature. Be present in that space and awaken your senses. Notice the sky, wind, temperature, animals, birds, trees, flowers, and anything else around you. What do you see? What do you hear? How do you feel? Allow for this opportunity of reconnection.

3)   Nourish Your Body

How we nourish ourselves can affect how we feel physically and emotionally. Pay attention to the foods that leave you feeling energized, satisfied, and supported, and choose nourishing options when they're available and accessible. You don't need to completely change the way you eat. Start small. Drink more water. Add a fruit or vegetable you enjoy. Prepare something that makes you feel cared for.

Nourishment can become another way to pay attention to your body and ask: What would support me right now?

4)   Unplug

Disconnecting from all the technology raises vibration. Our attention is constantly being pulled toward notifications, messages, news, videos, and other people's lives. Unplugging gives us an opportunity to consciously reclaim our attention. This can go hand in hand with spending more time in nature, or it can simply mean leaving your phone at home for a few hours a day or even in a different room, while you cook or read a physical book.

5)   Breathwork

Intentional breathing takes a few moments and immediately calms the body. In just two minutes, you can be more present, tune in more to your body, and lower stress. Simple slow breathing supports the free flow of vital energy throughout the body and mind.

There’s also advanced breathwork, which is different. If you’re seeking intensive breathwork, seek qualified instruction. Breathing exercises are one of the most effective ways to increase our energy level and keep it steady and harmonious.

6)   Practice Kindness

It's easy to become so absorbed in the demands and distractions of everyday life that we stop noticing the people around us. We get so caught up in the minutiae of daily life that we rarely have time to help others or even notice the people around us. One simple, random act of kindness can have amazing benefits for health and well-being. It can be as simple as sharing a few kind words with someone or lending a hand to someone in need. It will brighten both your days.

Any of these simple acts will instantly raise your vibration, lower your stress, and leave you in a better mood. If you start doing something every day, your life will improve in ways you never thought possible.

I'm becoming increasingly aware of how much of our day can happen automatically. We reach for our phones without thinking. We repeat familiar routines. We respond to the same situations in the same ways. Changing a pattern doesn't always begin with a dramatic decision. Sometimes it begins by interrupting one automatic behavior and consciously choosing something different.

This is an important part of the work I explore in Uncaged. Awareness helps us recognize the patterns we're living inside, but awareness alone doesn't create freedom. Eventually, we have to practice making different choices. Every conscious choice gives us that opportunity.

Raising your vibration doesn't have to mean making dramatic changes to your life. Sometimes it's dancing to one song, taking your lunch outside, putting your phone in another room, taking two minutes to breathe, or offering kindness to someone who crosses your path.

The practices I've shared in the first two parts of this series begin with the same idea: notice where you are, then make one conscious choice that supports where you want to go.

So far, we've explored eleven different ways to do that. And we're not finished. Next week, I'll bring this three-part series together with ten more ways to raise your vibration and explore even more opportunities to bring greater awareness, connection, and intention into everyday life.
