Can You Be

This is a beautiful book. Naina is recluse by choice. She didn’t have the greatest childhood and doesn’t have friends. She doesn’t love her job, and her boss isn’t very nice to her. While she loves living in Charleston, South Carolina, more than anything she wants supportive friends and family. She receives a mysterious box one morning with no information about a sender. Then she encounters a mysterious man who seems to know her. Naina’s life seems to change after the arrival of this package. She gets fired and embarks on a trip of a lifetime, trying to find herself.

This book follows Naina’s journey on finding herself and what it means to open your heart. It’s perfect for readers that loved Eat, Pray, Love. I enjoyed Naina’s journey. I too am bit of a recluse. While I do have family and friends that support me, I often wonder if there is something more that I could be doing with my life. This book is inspirational.

Singh did a wonderful job describing all of the places that Naina ventured to. It felt as I was with Naina physically, I could imagine it vividly. I loved all facts about the places that were included in the book. I love to travel and this brought me to places I’ve never been.

Naina’s character arch was not instant, and it wasn’t meant to be. She slowly started to change, she slowly started to open up and let people in. It was so beautiful to read. I especially enjoyed her courage to learn how to stand up for herself and ask for what she wanted.

Honestly, if you loved Eat, Pray, Love, this is the perfect read for you.
